New Look, Same Great Taste

Mike R. | Feb 12, 202107:07 AM     2

Bought some great-tasting snack-food products I've enjoyed for decades. At a most-welcomed promo price of two boxes for $6.00, plus a buck off each box with manufacturers' weekly paper / "shopper" coupons, the final 2-for-$4 was a great score...UNTIL I took a closer look!

In this case, it was Drake's Cakes Ring Dings and Coffee Cakes...whose newly introduced multi-colored packaging, featuring a "modernized" Ducky Drake logo and boldly displayed snack-food photo on the box cover, revealed a 20% reduction in product quantity, not so much in the box size itself. Cake number inside goes from 10 to 8 pieces.

I know that package size / weight-reduction is part of grocery evolution, but it hides the up-charged price that the "new look" brings. My 2cents, in this case...it's just annoying. I felt the same disturbing vibe when Haagen-Dazs brought out their 14-ounce "pint"-size container. Any other "size"-matters noticed recently?
