I heard that this place (between Central Sq and MIT) now has an authentic Sichuan menu along with the old (sub?) standard Thai fare, so I tried it out for lunch on Saturday. The place still looks like a dive, but that doesn't bother me at all. I ordered the dan dan noodles, sliced pork in garlic sauce, shredded beef with capsicum, and Chongqing chicken. The food arrived amazingly fast, the servings were plentiful, and the prices were very moderate. I seem to have a problem ordering Sichuan pork dishes, because they often are actually pork belly or basically, sliced bacon, rather than lean pork meat. Anyway, this dish turned out to be the former and, while I try not to eat too much pork fat, the flavor was delicious. The dan dan noodles were better than those I've had at Sichuan Gourmet in Billerica, Chili Garden in Medford, or Sichuan Palace in Chelmsford. The beef was tender and flavorful and the chicken, buried in dry fried chile pods, was bursting with ma la. I'd like to go back with a group next time to try more dishes, but this place is a great convenient option for Sichuan food.
