Hi All. I'm looking for a recommendation. I'm from Boston, but live in Asia and have been to LA countless times, but usually when I'm in town I eat with my brother in law who's a local.
I'm going to be in town again this Saturday (2/28) for the night and will be solo this go around. So here's what I'm looking for:
A recommendation for an excellent dinner for one. I'm open to pretty much anything but below are some thoughts to limit the scope. None of these are must haves but general guidance.
-I'm not a big sushi fan so that's not my preference
-I love Asian food of almost all varieties, but since I live here and travel extensively in the region any suggestion would have to be stupendously good to make the cut
- location wise, I'll be staying at LAX but I'm open to driving anywhere within reason
-since I'll be solo my preference is to be able to sit at the bar and eat usually rather than sitting alone at a big table
-also because I'm solo the format needs to make sense. ie tapas or Korean bbq don't really make sense for 1
-I'm looking for phenomenal food, not necessarily fancy or formal or trendy. Actually casual (jeans) and great food is perfect
-desert is my lowest priority of all parts of the meal so it shouldn't gate the decision.
-cost wise I'm fairly flexible but as a general guideline <$100 for one would be good
-ideally somewhere that is open a bit earlier at night would be great as I'll be just stepping off a flight from Asia and leaving again painfully early the next morning
So, all that said, I'd love to take a bit of your time and get your great ideas of where I should go.
Thanks in advance!
