Yesterday I tried El Rincon Boricua on 119th Street just east of Lexington. It's a tiny place, and if you're a party more than one and want to eat in, it can be a challenge. I went at lunchtime and had a special - roast pernil (pork shoulder) with rice and beans (red and yellow) and big ol' plaintain. Yum! The greasy (in the good sense of the word) essence of pernil together with the rice and beans and the plaintain was terrific. They had a homemade lemonade there that was very sweet. It favorably compares with my other P.R. fave, La Taza Del Oro in Chelsea.
