I usually won't order a steak unless I'm at a big steakhouse, and Marmont just doesn't look like the kind of place where you would have one. I was also a little leery of the list of sauces that you could order with your steak (hmmm). But I was pleasantly surprised. I had the petit filet (8 oz.) without a sauce, med. rare--it was thick, simply seasoned, perfectly seared on the outside, and super juicy on the inside, just like it should be. And it came with amazing horseradish-infused mashed potatoes, which I have craved every day since. I don't think I'll be going downtown for steak cravings anymore! Oh, and the steak AND mashed potatoes cost $22, as opposed to $30+ at Morton's, Ruth's Chris, etc. for only the steak (anyway, you will need the extra $$ for your drinks).
