After reading about Danny Brown my wife wanted to have dinner there. So on a Tuesday after work (in Elmont) we went to the restaurant.
I'll skip the nuts and bolts and distill the experience into one word EXCELLENT!
The greeting, the decor, the professionalism of the service, and, of course, the food.
We shared the Trio of Bruschetta with White Bean, Mushroom Tapenade
& Walnut Pesto for $8. Excellent, especially the white bean.
My wife had the Creekstone Farms Black Angus Grilled Hanger Steak & Crispy Frites Red Wine-Shallot Butter for $25. Hand cut fries, and tasty steak done to he rliking-medium rare.
I had the Organic Chicken “Under a Brick”
Rosemary Skillet Potatoes & Sautéed Escarole for $23. Best chicken I've ever had! (Sorry, mom.) Moist and flavorful, and no pink anywhere. Only complaint; too few potatoes, but probably better for my waistline.
For desert we shared a Espresso Crème Brulée for $8. Etheral and very espresso tasting.
We had a bottle of Prosecco di Conegliano, Zardetto Brut, Veneto, Italy, NV for $33, which I thought was rather high seing how we can get it for one-third that retail. They do have a corkage policy, $15, for a "special" wine, as long as they don't have it on their wine list.
Total bill, tax and tip was $120.00, well worth it.
We will be monthly regulars. Our waiter was one of the best we've encountered in a long time.
