Had lunch yesterday and I must say the Dugan family has done a wonderful job of bringing Joes back to life, four years after the terrible fire. We arrived at 12:30 and the place was packed. The Bar area is so pretty lots of gleaming wood and dark green tufted backett, fireplace and the Mermaid on the wall. Generous drinks and interesting mix of people. The dinning room complete with the big comfortable booths brought from the old spot on Taylor and recovered in Red. Booths are becoming extinct with most restaurants craming in as many tables as possible. I am so glad they kept them.
Our group had 1/2 broiled chicken in lemon, perfectly done with just the right amount of sauce. Sides of sauteed spinach and ravioli with their signaure meat sauce was very good and the famous Burger on garlic sour dough was GREAT. We did notice they are not serving the big steak fries that we loved at the old place but rather smaller cut regular type that were fine. Some complained the portions are much smaller I really did not notice, four of us shared the items above and it was plenty of food They also offer several nice wines by the glass or caraff at reasonable prices. One other note, they offer valet parking for a flat fee of $6. for lunch and I think $10.00 at dinner.
Maybe I over did it on the stars...but I don't put much stock in stars...I just know we had a great time of it yesterday and I hope you will all give it a try.
