I've been going to lunch at Don Pedros on Fridays, my day off, for some time. I always get the same thing -- it's called the Pastelon, with plantains, ground beef and egg -- because I like it so much, but things on other people's plates look great too, and unusual. It's a mere $7 and fills me up all day. Lunch is better value than dinner, and now wine by the glass is $3 during lunch! Who knows how long that will last, but even without that deal, it's become one of my favorites on the UES. My meal with tax and before tip, including 2 glasses of wine (it WAS my day off) and a double espresso, was just $19. Service is friendly too and the atmosphere is classy. You have to be in the mood for bouncy Caribbean music, though, because that is all they play.
