A great lunch at Choate Bridge Pub in Ipswich

The weather got us out yesterday and we headed to Crane's Beach, and a late lunch at Choate Bridge Pub. It was packed- I guess everyone had the same idea we had! My clam chowder was excellent- some of the best I've had and I worked at a place where we put on clambakes with both our and outside caterers, so I've had a lot of clam chowder. It was on the milky side, loaded with clams (and a bit of grit) with a bit of a tang that I liked but a dining companion didn't like.

My lobster roll was REALLY excellent. It was on a buttered, toasted roll, heaping with chunks and recognizable pieces of lobster, moistened with a bit of may and, I think, butter. It ws $13.95 and came with fries.

One other thing to note- a medium rare burger actually came out medium rare and looked great.

Another table had fried clams that also looked good.

This place is divey, not a fancy place.
