Great lunch at China Schezuan, Santa Cruz

Yesterday we went out again for lunch at China Schezuan in downtown SC. (We wanted to try Omei, but they don't do lunch on weekends). At CS we had kungpao (the version at this place is my favorite) and Shrimp-with-garlic-sauce. Both were excellent. Only thing were I wished they gave us some good jasmine rice (which can rarely be expected from Chinese restaurants). Overall a great lunch at good value. The ambience gets about 1-star, but the food 4-star, and price 5-star. And the service is getting more friendly as compared to a more business-like interface we've experience over two decades. I've not tried their dinner for so long, but the lunch is hard to beat for Chinese in SC. Highly recommended, if you don't mind occasional duct tape on the glass table. (After lunch we went to Natural Bridges to see monarchs but they were all gone).

Incidentally today I ordered some food to go from South Legend in Milpitas, on recommedation from the board (Nathan P.). The special-house-tofu-soup was great as were the kung-pao chicken, shredded-pork-with-green-onion and broccoli-beef. Because kids were involved, I could not order the fiery dishes I wanted (especially the froggy ones). Positively impressed. Will need to eat in sometimes.
