Hello, and thanks in advance. I know someone must know the place I'm looking for, as I recall finding it on this board a couple of years ago. I know I was on the way from Ikea to the track, and it was somewhere more or less on the way.
1) It's NOT a sushi restaurant. Some variation on izakaya.
2) Seats maybe 30.
3) Very authentic Japanese.
4) Serves Asahi on tap.
5) There is a small black bar facing the kitchen, seats maybe 5 or 6, but again, it's not a sushi bar.
6) Located in a tiny mini mall, with maybe only two or three other businesses in its particular building.
7) Two dishes I remember: uni pasta, and yellowtail collar.
Finally, it was absolutely great. I've spent plenty of time in Tokyo, and was hugely surprised to find a place of this quality on the way to what is quite frankly the most run-down racetrack in CA since Hollywood Park closed.
Any help in regaining my marbles is greatly appreciated!
