Looking for some great straight-up Italian food. The menu for Il Mulano looks right up my group's alley but how is the quality? Is there somewhere else you suggest in its place. Mind you, we're not the sweetbreads/truffle/foie gras type but do know excellent food when we eat it.

On a related note--one person is dying for a steak house. I know a lot of places do beef well--though I like mine med. rare ;) --but which do the sides and starters the best?

Our third dinner is LOS. I read it slipped a bit but since I've been dying to go for about the last three years, thought I'd insist on that as my pick. Thanks in advance for your help--and our trip isn't until mid-March so there's time. When do you suggest we make reservations (meaning how soon in advance?)
