Great Hudson views at 3 Westerly, Ossining...

New York State (exc. NYC) American Memorable Views Westchester County Trip Report

Stopped off in the revitalized Harbor Square section of Ossining late one afternoon and got a table at 3 Westerly Bar & Grill. The multi-tiered contemporary dining rooms were only partially in use due to Covid restrictions and we felt quite distanced from other patrons. There were dividers at each table. The view of the Hudson River is lovely. There is not a bad seat in the house, as far as I could see. The bar is not a seating option until later in the day. The outdoor patio looked inviting as well. Our beers went well with our order of plump Peach Habanero Chicken Wings. After lingering for a while, we took a walk outside. Very nice, indeed....www.3westerly.com

we live fairly close, nice to hear they've created social distancing for their customers. our review after about five visits is: great view, laughably bad service, food varies from mediocre to good and overpriced.

I'd suggest fin and brew instead, same price point, view of water, good service and much better food.

Thanks for sharing your experiences at 3 Westerly. We had a very pleasant time there, though we did not dig deep into the menu. Our waitress was also very good.
Will try Fin & Brew on another road trip. I have been at that facility for an event, but never ate at the restaurant.
Funny, how 'restaurants with a view' often fall short in some manner...some sort of stigma.

I'm not sure stigma is the right word, more like laziness. intuitively, two restaurants, one on the water with a built-in clientele wanting to experience the lovely setting and another restaurant in a nondescript building competing solely on the basis food, service and price, the latter will probably have the better food and price point.

It's refreshing (lol) to read a negative review on NYS Chowhound....most are either positive, great or better than great. Hopefully this review will make its way to the management. And, I remember when I was a kid in the 1950's (sigh), there was a radio ad from Horn and Hardart: "You can't eat atmosphere."

yeah, I believe on this site a couple of years ago I compared 3 westerly to an upscale houlihans, they've received terrible reviews on service on other sites, doubt they are reading.

IMO, what would be refreshing would be to read reviews of small restaurants that focus on quality and authenticity. I believe that's how this place got started but those days are obviously long, long gone. Jim Leff occasionally has great recommendations on his slog but one has to sift through an awful lot of navel gazing to get the good stuff.
