Impromptu night out with my wife (sans baby). We decided to have a nice dinner at a place close to home with some life. Decided on Les Halles on Park Ave South & 28th. Shared the grilled calamari & shaved fennel appetizer with a couple of glasses of rose wine - very satisfying. Entrees -wife had the the special skirt steak & frites & I had the steak au poivres. Both dishes very delicious & thoroughly enjoyed. Budget concious that we are, we played it simple & safe by ordering a bottle of the house red, a Les Halles label St. Emilion. We tasted it & accepted it. After a couple of sips, we both agreed that it tasted slightly 'corked'. We called the waitress back, she disappeared w/the bottle & reappeared, less than 5 minutes later, with a new one in full agreement that it was not up to par. She popped the cork, had us taste the new bottle & we accepted it. We, my wife & I, agreed that this too did not taste quite right but it was 'drinkable' at best. We wanted to have an easy, enjoyable night & did not want to fuss too much. Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience with Les Halles' house wine &/or if they have ever sent a bottle of wine back more than once at any restaurant?
