Is there a great Farmers' Market in the Garden State?

Question

You know, a destination worthy place? Anywhere? On any day?

I've been to most of the ones in the Mon/OC and have gathered lots of good stuff, but always felt like there was something missing. Red Bank's, for example, is decent, but the meat selections are pretty weak and overall, it's not really worth leaving the Shore unless I have something else to do in the area.

Is there a special one out there? Would you tell me where and why? Have coolers, will travel . . . .

You're right about Red Bank. That's why I combine the Farmer's Market with a stop at Monmouth Meats and one at NoTB. One short three block walk covers all my bases for a nice Sunday morning.

I'm only a short drive from Columbus Farmer's Market on route 206 in Burlington County... maybe 5 minutes or so south of turnpike entrance. Open Thursday-Sunday... think they might close up Jan-March?? It's a bit... shall I say eclectic?!?

LARGE outdoor area... some under cover, but still outdoors. BIG "flea market" area... totally out in open. Vendors often selling dusty stuff as collectibles... I often see the same stuff every time I go there... most over priced. Most vendors are regulars who arrive well before dawn even in cold weather. Tables available as needed for over-flow. Once made a GREAT deal on ART brushes. Seriously good prices.

Under cover, a lot of clothing, jewelry, phone stuff. If you're looking for Aero or A&F, it's there. Not my style... likely knock-offs or HOT?? Was there one time when the place was raided!?! People "hand-cuffed" with heavy-duty zip ties. And in next aisle, 2 young guys FURIOUSLY shoveling DVDs/CDs into bins and into their van... Getting the HELL outta Dodge, before meeting similar fate.

There's a whole section called something like Produce Alley?? Nice fruit & veggies, but kinda iin bulk... no real picking/choosing. A fresh fish section that doesn't smell too "fishy". Inside, a few "Amish" food places. One with really nice cheese & lunchmeats at GOOD prices. BIG section all "Amish"... fresh meat/chicken/sausage, prepared stuff (potato salad,etc.), baked goods.
