Great Drinks & Meal at DoHwa

Chow Dawg | Apr 22, 2004 03:43 PM

Had a truly enjoyable meal at Do Hwa (Carmine b'tween Bedford & 7th) earlier this week. More Americanized/fusion Korean, but very good. This was my first visit, so I thought I'd share a quick review of my evening.

Started with a zingy ginger lemon vodka drink from their extensive cocktail list that included many sake and sugi mixed drinks (served straight-up in a martini glass). So good, I ordered another!

Next, excellent watercress salad with a smokey sesame dressing and a rice cake starter with julienned veggies and what seemed to be wasabi. Very tasty.

We had been seated at a grill table, so we ordered the chicken sesame grill (each grill order serves 2). The wait staff started the grill, put about 1/2 the chicken, nice mushrooms and sliced onion on the hot grill, and then let us tend to the grilling. I've done this in other places, but for some reason it didn't seem as hokey as it usually does. The grill dishes are served with greens and other tasty condiments for wrap making and a bowl of rice. Everything very fresh and service was prompt and efficient.

Reasonably priced to boot. This would be a fun place for a date or with a group of friends. I'd recommend it if you haven't tried it before.
