Just got back from volunteering at Spinazzola Gala. What an amazing event- it was just such a pleasure to see Boston's top chefs and staff doing what they love for an appreciative audience. (I wish I could have met some of you at the after party but my ride was pooped and wanted to go home.) I couldn't keep notes and it all really ran together after a while, but I do remember the pulled pork from Rouge stood out. Lots of braised meats over starches kind of ran together... all of them good but hard to remember specifics. I hope anyone else who was there kept better notes and can comment to some of the standout dishes. The upshot: Boston has fantastic chefs that are putting out some amazing food. Go out and eat!
(To any chefs/GMs reading along, PLEASE please be better about marketing yourselves at this event. Hand out coupons, or small cards reminding guests what you served and where they can go if they liked it. Andy Husbands had a freebie coupon but that's the only one I saw. Menus are too big when all you've got is a small purse; business cards are too generic. If I could have collected cards which already told me what I was eating so I didn't have to write it down while juggling a food tray, I'd have a much clearer picture of which places need to be on my "must try" list!)
