Great Breakfast (particularly French Toast) 79th & York

Hi. We have lived in this fairly unappealing eating neighborhood for a few years, and except for a few highlights, like sushi of gari, we don't stay around to eat out much.

However, we cannot always make the trek out of the neighborhood for food and would love to find a good, if not great breakfast spot with traditional french toast. We have tried E.A.T. and Eli's (not exactly next door) but we don't like either. Both because of the incredibly high prices, and the french toast at E.A.T. was deep fried. We haven't checked out the few diner-like places nearby and we plan to do that but would like a heads up first.

If anyone has suggestions for a place in this area, with challah french toast and good eggy items too, that would be great. A place like Joe's Dairy would be perfect.

Many thanks in advance.
