I recently visited my daughter in Grapevine. Unfortunately she and her fiancee are not "chowhounds". But here are some impressions of where we did go to eat. They are all in Grapevine.
Coulters is the hang out spot for my daughter's fiancee and his co-workers. Since we were there so much I tried the BBQ ribs and fried catfish-both were good but I was really hungry. Dickies BBQ Pit was also good. Esparza's Restaurante was the pits! Ground beef and ground chicken in the tacos and enchiladas, that's NOT Mexican! They really push the nacho cheeze sauce which tastes like its out of a can. Nothing had any bite to it. We were there on Mother's day and it was busy. I couldn't believe how people could like that place! Tried a drive in grinder place on the corner near downtown Grapevine, open from 11am to 2pm. That was very good! Had breakfast at the Waffle Way. I don't normally eat waffles but I happened to get one since it was a waffle house and it blew me away. It was so light and fluffy yet oh so tasty. We don't have a Sonic Burger in CA. but their double burgers are excellent! Or else maybe I was just really hungry again! I'll be back next year to visit her again. Maybe I'll have better luck!
