Granita farewell dinner

Just Larry | Aug 21, 200501:51 PM

Had dinner at Granita last night. Immediately noticed that the decor had been toned down considerbly and was quite pleasant. Ordered a glass of Shiraz and of Merlot. Both were very good and only $8.00. We split an Arugula and Fig Pizza that was spectacular. We also shared a Kurabota Pork Chop with Spinach and Mashed Potato and an extra side of Grilled Asparagus. The Pork Chop was good but I have had equally good non-Kurabota pork before. Asparagus were also very good. Server was excellent. Dessert was fresh Peach Cobbler with Peach Vanilla Iced Cream (and about 8 homemade cookies on the plate). There were 2 or 3 very ripe peaches, skin still on in a light natural syrup with just a pinch of Strussel Topping. The best version of Cobbler to accentuate perfect fruit that I have ever experienced. We had a glass of Black Muscat to go with it. A red Muscat. Flavor was very familiar but also a good way. Bill before tip was $99.00 and we couldn't finish everything we ordered. Restaurant was not full anytime between 7 and 9:00. I will really miss this place. My favorite appetizer, the Rosti Potato Galette topped with Creme Fraiche and Smoked Salmon will be gone forever. I will just have to make it at home when I crave it. They will be open until Labor Day for sure but I am not sure how much longer than that. Well worth going for a totally nice dinner experience. The drive going is also beautiful.
