Grand Trunk (Penn Quarter)

ipsedixit | Feb 17, 201509:24 AM

Given that my plans were kaiboshed because of the weather, we stopped by Grand Trunk on Indiana and 7th.

First time here, and it was a trip. It's subterranean, so you have to carefully navigate these transparent stairs down a level, then you're greeted essentially with a fast-food type of counter setup.

Best way to describe this food is Indian, or maybe Indian-Fusion? Dunno.

Semantics aside, tried the Naan Burger, on the recommendation of the owner, and he did not do me wrong.

It's two patties of beef sandwiched between naan bread. The beef is obviously seasoned with Indian spices, so it's quite tasty and savory, and the chutney that dressed it was a nice touch instead of, say, ketchup or mustard. Overall, it was a really good combo. For $8, it's a damn steal.

Lots of other stuff on the menu, which I think the place is still putting together (incl. some breakfast items like sandwiches and oatmeal).

Open 24/7 and if you're a cricket fan, they're planning on having the matches on all week I'm told.
