Grand Sichuan. Did we go to the wrong location?

Stopped in at the Grand Sichuan place near 56th St. & 2nd Ave. Was expecting impressive things from all of the commentary on the web. Ordered wontons in hot oil, and three meat dishes from the Sichuan menu.

The wontons were very good, but all of the meat dishes were grossly overcooked. The meat was tough, dry, and chewy like rubbery bacon. In addition, all dishes were soaked with Sichuan peppercorns that completely overwhelmed the flavor of anything else on the plate. I love hot food, but this was very unpleasant. Finally, the waiter was very impatient and condescending, and responded to every question about the food that "it's a chef's secret. No can tell". I've had better Chinese food in a mall store.

Did we go to the wrong Grand Sichuan? This place was a small hole in the wall, and had a yellow sign with red letters.
