Grand Restaurant in New World Mall

The restaurant is gorgeous. The walls and floors are marble as well as are the bathrooms. The four person tables are tablecloth covered and dimsum is served from the traditiional carts. The waiters are curteous as are the waitresses. The manager was wonderful; courteous, helpful and gave these non Asians free desserts of custard pudding cups that were delicious. Now here's the rub: the dimsum were a little different My table of three sampled half a dozen of them and some were a little off. The shrimp wrapped in rice flour was closest to traditional, but it had a taste of specks of fried scallions along with the shrimp which gave the dish an unusual aspect; not welcome to my taste. The sticky rice, too, was different. It conained larger bits of beef and nuts . The others were closer to traditional and were acceptable if not quite up to taste. Was it the chef's crearivity in preparation, I can't say, but the food did not reach the standards of Jade Asian or Ocean Jewels
or whatever its name is now) I invite other posters' opinions, because I feel bad writing these words.
