Grand Opening: Sterling Ruby in SF Chinatown

Melanie Wong | Nov 12, 200301:55 AM     2

Noticed that Jackson Pavilion is no more when I was in chinatown today. I could never go in there because it replaced the much beloved Jackson Cafe.

Sterling Ruby Restaurant opened on Saturday. The entry way is full of live plants from many well-wishers. Menu continues in the Hong Kong coffee shop genre. This one is a bit more frenchified - escargot bordelaise, lobster bisque on pastry puff - then turning eastward with Russian borsch (sic) and pan fried beef Japanese style, and no shortage of HK favorites such as diced pork with sweet corn, macaroni with spam, and ice cream with red beans.

Please report back if you try it. It was very busy at lunch time today with a wait for tables.
