I went to the new Red Robin (right next to the Pier 1/Starbucks plaza on Rt. 9) tonight. It was packed, but we were seated (with a sleeping child in a stroller in tow) within five minutes.
My husband and I both ordered the Hawaiian smoothies. They were a little too heavy on the grenadine, but they were good.
I really enjoyed my cheeseburger. The burgers were huge (but decently priced at $8). It was perfectly done, with the right amount of mayo and toppings, contained neatly in a paper wrapper, a little reminiscent of In-n-Out (sigh). The bottomless fries were crispy and fresh--much better than what I had remembered from my h.s. years at Red Robin.
I had expected a fairly decent meal, but, besides a slightly overeager and nervous waitstaff, my family had a great dinner. Poughkeepsie definitely needs a good burger place. If Red Robin can keep the quality of its food high, then I could see it being a huge hit.
Since my child was sleeping, she didn't get a chance to eat, but I did want to add that I was impressed by the kids' menu. It had about eight different entrees to choose from, as well as five or six side dishes. Very nice for families with picky eaters.
The only downside to this place was the tiny dessert menu. They had a fudge sundae, apple crisp, and some sort of chocolate cake dessert. It wasn't tempting at all, but since I was so stuffed from my meal, it was ok.
