I can't believe that this gem is so close to home. I was completely spoiled at Gran Gusto and can't wait for my next visit.
The meal started off perfectly when the waiter told us about the fettuccini with fresh white truffle special. That was it, menu down.
For starters I had the Frutti di Mare. It was outrageously good. The broth was very nicely balanced and mussels and clams were just right.
The fettuccini in itself was divine - fresh and great texture and flavor. It was tossed with the most simple and delightful butter or oil nothing to detract from the truffle. I was in heaven. The aroma was intoxicating.
My husband had the Spaghetti with lobster. I was surprised to find that the sauce was full of lobster flavor. I was a very complete and flavorful dish with just the right amount of meat. He was very happy with the dish. Our other dining companion went for a pizza after my telling him of all the rave review of the pizza. His only disappointment is that he is only in town visiting and won't be able to make it back there before he heads home. He was equally as happy with the pizza as I was with my truffle dish which says a lot!
Luckily for us, we had enough wine left in our second bottle of Chianti that we decided to go for desert. Wow! I had the cheesecake which was described as buffalo ricotta I think which surprised me; I love buffalo mozzarella but hadn't even heard of ricotta. It was superb. The other two got Tiramisu and an Almond or Hazelnut cake. We were all very very happy.
Since others have commented on the service, I was hesitant to bring an out of town guest here before trying it myself first. We wanted Italian and I was just dying to try Gran Gusto out. The whole experience was relaxing and very enjoyable. The gentlemen in the dining room were beyond polite and helpful. We enjoyed ourselves very much.
