Had a delightful meal at GT last night. The service was really excellent and the food was well done. One thing bothered me - we did not order the tasting menu, but did add a few extra courses like the white truffle ravioli. Told the waiter we would also like to do a cheese course. Throughout the evening a saw members of the waitstaff bring the cheese board over to the tables and discuss the selections. However, our waiter just came back (after the busboy took our desert order) and pointed us to the cheese menu to make our selections. I was a tad disappointed.
When the cheese arrived it was obviously from the board that sits next to the oven. Everything was too warm, served on a warm plate and had a little crust developing on the cheddars from being out.
Does anyone else have experience with this? I didn't complain but wish I had. They had two boards placed in different spots in the restaurant, and if I had been offered the same cheese presentation everyone else was, I might have noticed the effect of the heat and made other selections or skipped the cheese alltogether.
Is this cheese presentation only if you order from the tasting menu?
