In May, I will be in NYC for a chowhoundish vacation for the fourth time in 2 years. Coming with three other guys. No plans for museums or ball game - just eating and drinking. I have stayed in Manhattan the three previous visits, except for a memorable trip to Arthur Ave in the Bronx. I plan to spend time in Brooklyn this trip, and will check out that board. (Any links will be appreciated)
But, I want to plan one exceptional dinner. I have eaten at Gramercy Tavern and Gotham Bar & Grill. Both were wonderful, but the meal at Gramercy stands out as one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. I am inclined to go back there again - the three who will be with me have never been to Gramercy. But, is there someplace else we should go instead - someplace better than Gramercy right now? There are so many fine restaurants in New York that I feel a bit guilty or odd about going back to Gramercy. But I am a man of habits, and I know that if I lived in Manhattan, I would go to Gramercy Tavern as often as I could afford to do so!! I grew up in Detroit, and whenever I got the chance, we went to the late, sadly lamented emporium of the finest seafood, Joe Muer's. In fact, that was the only place I would go when I visited friends after moving from the Detroit area!
Any thoughts will be appreciated.
