I've been working a lot. A LOT. Grouchy. Touchy. Mad.
Mr. JudiAU, pargon of husbandly virtures, has been very patient. I came up for air Saturday night at around 9:00 p.m. and Mr. JudiAU insisted we get out of the house, in fancy shoes no less.
Ended up snagging two seats at the bar of Grace, ordered cocktails, grouchiness fading
Interesting menu with the most intriguing items on the last page. Odd place for specials. Unusual Portugese red and white burgundy rounded out the meal. We noticed the hostess speaking to several people placed around the bar, I think the tables were backed up, but the pacing of our meal was fine.
My husband had the rare wild boar, with spaeztle and baby brussel sprouts. This is not "the other white meat." I had scallop special. Now I love scallops, especially raw or rare scallops, but they are often paired with fussy, silly, "girly" pairing when they will easily stand up to something more interesting. This was interesting. The diver boat scallops, carefully cooked, were paired with nutty farro, excellent baby brussel sprouts, poached jerusalem artichoke, and a light pea sauce. Really delicous. Both of the meals made us very happy; earthy flavors, a judicious amount of sophisticated sauce, thoughtful vegetable and starch pairings.
We've had several meals at Grace and this was by far the best.
