Grace Garden a minor disappointment

yimster | Dec 21, 200409:18 PM

We stopped by Grace Garden in Burlingame this Sunday in search for good Korean/Chinese food. I am alway looking for good hand pulled noodles and spicy chicken. For the outside it really looked promising with Chinese, Korean and Japanese characters on the signs.

We order the one bowl and Braised Beef Hand Pulled Noodles, one order Green Onion Pancake, Shrimp and Leeks Dumpling and the dish my chow buddy Han still hopes to find Gao Pan Chicken.

Of all the dishes the only one I would order again is the Hand Pulled Noodles. The noodles were just what I wanted. Wonderful texture for he noodles but the beef and soup lack favor and spice. China Tofu in Newark has a much more favorful stock and beef, but the noodles not in this class.

The shrimp dumpling and green onion were ok but not as good as Five A’s down the street.

The real disappointment was the chicken. It was just batter fried boneless dark chicken meat with a sweet and sour type sour. No heat and spicy and it was just sour and sour chicken.

Looking over at other tables there were some interesting dishes that were being serve.

They have two menu’s one American crowd and one in Chinese and Korean only.

Maybe later we will revisit. But Han we are still looking for your chicken.

The wait staff were Chinese but we were told the chef/owner were Korean.
