Is GOULASH made with beef authentic? Or is pork better?

Hi Chowhounders:

I recently came across a recipe for GOULASH which calls for beef rather than pork.

In your opinion, will the dish (which also consists of paprika) taste as good if I use cubes of beef or should I just subtitute the beef with pork?

I like both. It's just that I thought pork was more "authentic" and perhaps better-tasting.
