There actually is a good thing about these restaurants. You can get healthful variations of traditional dishes that you won't find in the San Gabriel Valley. For example, I just had some pretty good pan fried chicken dumplings at Fortune West on Fairfax just north of Beverly Bl. Pretty good wrapper (store bought I'm sure) and filling. Recently found chicken dumplings also at Cheng Du on Pico and New Flavors on Centinela, and I'm sure there's a bunch more on the Westside. Also I would imagine there are also other dishes that have been adapted for the Westside lifestyle.
