Good Sandwiches Across From Giants' Ballpark-Weekdays

Arnie Gubins | Jun 20, 200401:29 PM

With take-out and sit-down Italian foods, Vixi's has replaced Max's across from the ballpark. Last week I got two sandwiches to bring to the game and they were delicious, and extremely generously sized. At $7 each they include either a tossed salad or house made potato chips (I got the latter and they are good). The sandwich descriptions on the menu are:

-Il Pavarotti: roasted marinated pork loin, smoked mozzarella, fig-shallot jam, aioli
-Pork Picatta: roasted marinated pork loin, lemon-caper aioli, arugla, caramelized onions, provolone
There are chicken sandwiches and cheese as well as tuna panini.

Weekend games are out, as it is only open Monday thru Friday 7:30AM to 8:00PM.
Address is 128 King St between 2nd & 3rd
Tele (415) 538-VIXI
Fax (415) 538-8496
Apparently you can phone or fax your lunch order at least 30 minutes in advance for quick pick-up. When I was there 45 minutes before game time and well before the lunch hour the sandwiches took 5 minutes.
