I dined recently at Nizza La Bella (Albany) with a young friend who had never had this dish of frisee, lardons (or bacon) and a very soft poached egg before. The starter version of this salad there was excellent, thick chunks of cured pork belly, gooey yolk and lightly dressed curly endive. (Bouillabaise and Steak (skirt) Frites were kind of blah. Mixed drinks v. good).
She's expressed interest in having more of this dish. It's always been one of my favorites. Where should we go? (East bay/SF).
