after tiring of the wait outside Tartine last night, boyfriend and I wandered upon Bone Lick Park around the corner (Greenwich & Bank), a BBQ restaurant recently opened. REALLY good ribs-- we shared a rack of baby back ribs and a rack of beef ribs. Both were intensely smoky flavored and incredibly succulent. Neither of us are BBQ experts (native New Yorker and native Angelino) but have eaten much of what New York has to offer in terms of BBQ and--IMO-- think this is heads and shoulders above the competition. Sides of mac &cheese, collard greens with ham hocks, cornbread and cole slaw were all very good. Service was attentive and friendly. Only objection would be the decor which is a little incongruous for a bbq place-- part faux-retro diner and part pottery barn-- but this is definitely a minor point. Total bill with beer, coffee and pecan pie-$66.
