Every time Father's Day or some such day rolls around, we end up on a search for a really good steak for my Dad.
We've tried the Rancher's Club, and while the steaks are fine, it seems kind of overpriced, and every time I've gone there my steak has been overcooked. I know Marcello's Chophouse is supposed to be good, but it also seems overpriced, especially for a chain restaurant in an Albuquerque shopping plaza. Savoy and Seasons serve a pretty nice filet, but my Dad prefers ribeyes, NY strips, porterhouses, and other flat cuts.
So far, of the places we've tried, for value, meat quality, and cookery, Slate Street Cafe seems to come in at number one. They have a nice, basic ribeye with pleasant sides, and it's always cooked perfectly to the requested temperature.
Are there any there any other good quality, well-made restaurant steaks in Albuquerque that you can refer me to, Southwest Chowhounds? They don't have to be in a steakhouse setting. I'd be happy to get Santa Fe recommendations, too.
