I just finished A Cook's Tour by Anthony Bourdain (the guy who wrote Kitchen Confidential). It's a wonderfully funny read and one I'd highly recommend. If you're all maxed out after Christmas, at least try to read (in a bookstore or, preferably, a library) his West Coast chapter, especially pages 237-251. He describes a vegan potluck he attended in a fashion that had me rolling in the aisle and this is followed by an account of his experience at the French Laundry that must rank as one of the best bits of food writing to come along since Auberge of the Flowering Hearth.
I read somewhere he's much better in print than on his TV show and, having devoured this book, I heartily agree.
