I went to Daikokuya on 1st St and sat at the bar. In front of me was a big boiling pot with what looked like hand-cut noodles inside. I asked the waiter what it was, and the waiter said that it was "pork oil". Oh. So I ordered some gyoza and a combination of the house special daikoku ramen and a small eel bowl. They had a sign on the wall saying that they could make the flavor of the ramen broth extra rich if you asked, so of course I asked. Anyway, everything was very good, there was some good but fatty meat etc in the ramen, and indeed the ramen broth was extra rich. So upon paying, I asked the waiter what they did to make the broth extra rich, and the waiter says, you know that pork oil you saw?, well, we put it in the ramen broth. Duh. Anyway, it was very good ramen.
