Good Pie Cherries?

I'd like to make a cherry pie. Fresh eating cherries are really expensive, and I'm told that they're unsuitable for pies anyway. The grocery store carries several brands of "pie filling", but they all look pretty dubious. Ideally, I'd just like the fruit and not whatever other ingredients make it a "pie filling". Can anyone recommend a brand of pie cherries, frozen or canned?
