Good Mexican Mariscos (Shellfish)

After being disappointed with several tries at seafood in Mexcian restaurants, we went to Juanita's on a recommendation. The Cocktel Vuele la Vida was loaded with good, fresh small shrimp, tender octopus and a few really good, freshly shucked oysters. The large for less than nine as an app is a good deal. Solid stuff, although I personally am not a fan of the ketchup usually used in Mexican cocktails.

Shrimp Diabolo entree was really good. Perfectly cooked fresh shrimp in a red sauce made from scratch with I think guajillo. Solid rice and I subbed in frijoles for the fries. Nice, light refried beans. No shortcuts here. Forgettable salad, but a nice slice of ripe avocado.

My lady had the breaded fish, and it was not that good. Next time we will try one of the shellfish soups (caldo de mariscos).

Interested in the pozole and menudo, since it seems they make everything from scratch and with care.

Bought two pounds of house-made chorizo, also.

Definitely worth checking out.
