Good kosher food - Greta's and Jeff's Gourmet

kevin | Feb 10, 200501:49 AM

for the 2nd time ventured out to greta's on melrose, which is a tunisiain french restuarant. nice menu of steak dishes, pastas, fish, burgers, and boreks.

i had the steak diane (never had it before) and it was pretty darn good, nicely tender flavorul beef in a very light mustardy-shallot-reduced wine sauce maybe with a hint of mushrooms in it too. good stuff, it was sided w/ spaghetti w/ tunisian tomatoe sauce (basically regular old tomato sauce) and a small mixed green salad. overall, great stuff, in very unpretentious, makeshift surroundings.

also, the other day had a Polish sausage sandwich from Jeff's Gourmet Sausages, they do have a great selection of kosher sausages from chicken italian to merguez to borwerz to chorizo to veal bratwurst to a russian sausage, and they also got chili fries, and burgers, and regular old hot dogs, basically it's a kosher jody maroni's if you will but i think a lot better. the polish was pretty darn good eating, nicely garlicky, and juicy, and complemented by the mustard and sauerkraut but it really does need some more spiciness to the whole matter.
