Good kid-friendly food adjacent to good skateboarding store

Six family birthdays in six weeks. One celebration.

My nephew is turning ten and loves skateboarding to the exclusion of just about anything else, except maybe food. For his birthday he wants "body armor" which I believe is high tech knee pad/elbow pads.

Can anyone recommend a good fantasy store for him to pick out his birthday present and very good adjacent chow?

We will have about 13 people, including six kids ranging in age from 2 months to 11 years old. The kids and most of the adults love good food but are fairly sheltered so it needs to be accessible. Previous hits included Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles.

Bonus points if the food matches well with chocolate banana cream pie, the birthday's boy requested "cake."

Zeke's Smokehouse on Santa Monica is one option but I don't know of any skateboarding shop nearby.
