good jewish deli & bakery recommendations?

Julie M | Nov 1, 2005 03:48 PM

help me out if you can- i'm looking for a good jewish deli. grew up on the east coast and i'd like to find a place to buy some quality kosher meats (particulary corned beef, pastrami, brisket), fish (white + lox), knish, pickles, and other deli items. beside my ongoing cravings for such goodies, my family will be in town and i'd like to serve some good jewish foods for a function at my house. i've read some reviews online that saul's in berkeley is good, but i wonder if there's anything local.

additionally, i have yet to buy a decent challah in sf - any suggestions? someone told me about a jewish bakery in the richmond, but i don't remember the name, and i'm not sure they have challah anyways. i like my challah to be pretty dense, yellow (eggy), and sweet.

i'd be very grateful for any suggestions. thanks!
