I ate at the Barley Creek Brewery in Tannersville, at the foot of Big Pocono, on Sunday. It has great ambiance, with high ceilings and picnic benches, and a large porch with an outside bar.
I was there as part of a large group, which was accommodated quickly and efficiently. Beers range from American Light style to "Rennovator Stout", and are available as a "sampler", with 6 small glasses served at once. I was driving, and didn't sample, but those who did, and whose opinions I trust, said that they all tasted like beers of different types (jk, the brews all got thumbs up, including the light beer).
Food ranges from "enlightened bar food" (ie grilled chicken salads and big burgers) to steak, seafood, chicken & ribs. Burgers are fresh meat & hand formed. I had the vegetarian 5-bean chili, which I judge to be excellent. Many in the group were pleased with the shepherd's pie, a beefy/vegetable/potato thing. Portions are large. Prices are low.
Many people post asking about good food on I-80. Having travelled the length of I-80 in PA, OH, and IN this last holiday weekend, my recommendation would normally be to pack a lunch. However, if your desire to stop coincides with a visit to the outlet malls at The Crossings in Tannersville, you could do a lot worse than this. Exit I-80 and turn the other direction from the outlets, you can't miss it.
