Where's the good Indian food??

Ben A. | Aug 23, 2001 09:49 PM

I have eaten at plenty of decent Indian restaurants in New York, but I've never found one where the quality of food was amazing. My standard for good Indian is a place in San Francisco called Indian Oven. In fact, I think Indian Oven is my standard for all good food--unfortunately that standard is almost never met. Anyway, can someone recommend an Indian restaurant in New York that's blow-your-socks-off good? Jackson Diner isn't that great, 6th Street... no comment... Where is the best Indian place??? I did have some amazing veggie Indian at Pongal, but I'm talking about Indian food with meat (North Indian?) Also, I'm not interested in overpriced places. I like to pay $10-$15 total. I'm a poor student, what can I say?
