Good and Good Value Butcher in SF

Sixy Beast | Aug 17, 200405:27 PM

I am planning a Greek Feast dinner party on Saturday and thanks to some great menu suggestions on the Chowhound General Topics Board, I am probably going to be making, amongst many other things, the Yuvetsi suggested by Zach (thanks Zach!)
I want to get some fairly large quantity of leg of lamb. I usually go to WholeFoods for my meat but as I am currently on a budget and am expecting over 20 guests, I thought maybe a chowhounder knew of a better place in SF I can purchase my meat for quality at good value. In the past I have been to Costco when catering for large numbers but I am not sure this offers the best quality or the best value.
I have read a previous thread on this board regarding the Best butchers in SF, but they were proposed on a 'price is no object' request.
I was wondering what people thought the best value for money butcher is, preferably within the city or within less than 30 min drive from SOMA.

thanks in advance for any ideas.

(PS - Zach - if you read this - do you know how many people the recipe, you so kindly posted, was for?, thanks)
