Good, fun, reasonable, west side, it possible?

I was all set to make a birthday reservation for 10 for my roomate at L-Ray when I found out they are closed. (not sure if it's for renovations or for good). I got a table at Punch for Monday night, but I was wondering if someone could either a) reassure me that's a good choice or b) point me to someplace else. Some other thoughts... Harmony on Houston (is this still open?), Merge, Cuba Libre.

Here's the deal:

*10-12 20-somethings, mostly female, NOT super-trendy-types, but we like trying new places.

*friends from Jerse need to be close to the Port Authority or PATH trains (6th ave between Christopher/9th and 34th st)

*birthday girl is steakhouses, seafood or sushi. Otherwise, she is adventurous, but some guests are not.

* Monday night. is the theatre district totally dead?

* Entrees in the 'up to $26 or so' range.

Sorry for the length, I appreciate your help!
