Not necessarily the most chowhoundish of questions. But desire is desire. I have this French craving swelling up.
Part of me yearns for hearty country cooking, like escargot cooked to just that point of crunchiness or a casserole of tripe or a simple smooth pate served with cornichons. What's a good place for this (please be public transportation accessible)?
Then there's an another bit that wants stuff like duck and game and some of the extravagances and excesses of the gastronomy. Any suggestions? Preferably with a minimal dress code and a tab that won't be more than $60ish. (Something as good as Chez Henri, but on a purer French note would be lovely.)
