Went to Ford's tonight, and had a very good experience at the bar. Looked hard at the menu, and a number of things looked compelling - from the salumi to the crispy flattened chicken and leg of lamb. But decided to go simple and get the burger ($14), subbed in a salad for the fries that come with it. Burger was great, nice flavors throughout and they definitely aren't afraid of seasoning the meat. I wouldn't call it overseasoned, but definitely assertive. Carmelized onions and blue cheese were a nice mix, and the burger was juicy.
They have some interesting wines, too, most glasses $8-$12, bottles $32-$48. So it's not a cheap place, but I found it well executed for what I wanted. I would probably keep it simple here, as some others have noted, but I am intrigued to try some of the other entrees. This isn't a destination restaurant and they aren't looking to set the world on fire with an amazing value prop - it's more of a high quality, pretty upmarket neighborhood spot. Very good vibe. And it's working -at 9:30 on a Wed night, I watched a party of 4 waited 10 minutes for their table. Who knew - in Culver City - and not at Tito's tacos!
