Good eats in Tampa near the convention center?

Steve Green | Jan 17, 201106:47 AM     25

I'll be staying at the Marriott Waterside while attending a convention this week. I won't have a car, but will have a few evenings and a couple of mornings available for meals. What's good and nearby? I was there a few years back and already know about the Columbia. I liked it, and notice there's now a Columbia Cafe right down the street, which would be great for a quick lunch.

A couple of additional options would be nice, hopefully within walking distance, or a short bus/streetcar ride away. Last time I was there, I found myself eating a lot of grouper sandwiches at the hotel restaurant. That was fine, but some variety would be good this time around. Nearby BBQ would be ideal -- also, a good fish restaurant, or maybe Thai? Best Cuban sandwiches in the area? Good breakfast place? Am open to other suggestions, but nothing too fancy, please.

Will report back, however, sometimes on these trips I end up not going far from the hotel and CC.
TIA!
